Privacy
TapWise tells you which of your credit cards to use at a store. It's built to need as little about you as possible. It never asks for card numbers, bank logins or passwords.
Stored on your device
Your wallet (which cards you carry), card settings, point values, offers you've added, stores you've added and recent searches are saved in your browser on this device. So are a second wallet's cards and name, if you add one, and your wallet-check cheat sheet, if you save it (the categories, the card for each, and the rough monthly amounts you entered). They stay there unless you sync them (below), export a backup, or reset the app.
The wallet check does its math on your device. The amounts you enter aren't sent anywhere, and aren't kept at all unless you save the cheat sheet. "Save as image" draws the cheat sheet on your device; it isn't uploaded.
If you sign in to sync
Signing in is optional. If you do, we store:
- Your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the name and email address Google shares with us. We don't receive your Google password or access to your Google account.
- One copy of the same settings listed above, so they appear on your other devices.
This is stored with our database provider, Supabase, and protected so that only you, signed in, can read or change your copy.
Google user data
If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with TapWise, with your permission. We use only your email address and Google account ID, solely to sign you in and keep your synced settings tied to you. We don't use your profile picture, request access to any other Google data (Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar or anything else), or use Google data for advertising. The data is stored by our sign-in and database provider, Supabase, is not sold, and is not shared with anyone else. TapWise's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove TapWise's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and ask us to delete your account by emailing help@gettapwise.com.
If you use "near me" or offer screenshots
- Near me: with your permission, your approximate location (rounded to about 10 meters) is sent to Google Places to list nearby stores. We don't store it.
- Offer screenshots: screenshots you choose to import are sent to Anthropic's Claude to read the offers. We don't store the images.
Anonymous usage counts
We count anonymous, aggregate usage (like how many people finish setup or open the app) with Umami. It uses no cookies, doesn't track you across sites, honors your browser's Do Not Track setting, and never sees your cards, stores, amounts or location. It records page views (the address without anything after a ? or #), the site that linked you here, the browser, device type and country, plus a few named events: setup finished (and whether you used sample cards), a recommendation shown, Near me used, offer screenshots imported, a wallet check started or finished, a second wallet turned on, and signing in to sync. None of these include anything about what you buy or carry.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your information, or use it for advertising.
- We don't collect card numbers, account numbers or bank logins.
- We don't use cookies for tracking, and nothing follows you across other websites. The only cookie is set by
Google's sign-in button (
g_state), which remembers whether you dismissed it; it isn't used for tracking.
Deleting your information
In the app, tap Synced at the top of the screen and choose Delete synced data to remove your saved settings from our database. Reset clears this device. To also have your sign-in email removed, email help@gettapwise.com.
